Dr Jack Holman
Jack Holman is a senior research fellow at the University of Nottingham Hearing Sciences – Scottish Section, based at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He graduated from the University of Glasgow with undergraduate and masters degrees in Psychology and Brain Imaging Methods. He then completed a PhD at the University of Nottingham on the relationships between hearing loss, hearing aid use and fatigue.
His work focuses on understanding, measuring, and improving the social and emotional well-being of people with hearing loss. Current projects include assessing the differences in social network structures and relationships associated with hearing loss, the identification of factors underlying social and emotional well-being and the impact of first-ever hearing aid fitting on emotions in everyday life. Soon he will be involved in two new projects: The first will investigate social participation and social acclimatisation after hearing aid fitting, and the second will assess the factors influencing well-being in the workplace and the identification of targets for intervention.
